How to add a Configurable Product instruction

Login and go to your account dashboard and on the left-hand side under marketplace click on “new products.”
The first thing that you have to do is select an attribute set, which is basically the category in which your product fits most. So, we’ll pretend that I am creating a dog leash, and so I would think this probably fits best under “accessories,” and the product type that we’re doing is “configurable.”
A configurable product is one that has many different variables, things that can change, like color, size, material, that sort of thing. Then choose from the attributes the one that best fit your product. Then you click “create configurable product”
Pick the categories here; you can select as many or as little as you need. In this case we will do “Pet shop,” we’ll say, “cat,” put it there under “collars, harnesses, and leashes,” and the same thing for a dog. Name the product then give it a quick description followed by a SKU number (the number that differentiates your product from other products) then set your price and what percentage do you wish to allow in reward points (BuyCoins).
LiveShopBuy offers reward points called BuyCoins. User receive points when they register, make purchases or refer friends. This field is basically just saying how much are you willing to accept of the total price in BuyCoins when someone purchases the item. Shoppers prefer to purchase products with reward points so keep that in mind. Read our LiveShopBuy Rewards points from the link in our footer on the home page.
Special price; set this if your selling the product at a discount or on “sale”. All sale items are listed in our “Daily Deals” section from our home page. Its like free advertising! And your product will get more exposure. Then set the start date and end date of your sale.
It’s in stock, of course. Then you want Visibility for a configurable product, but you do not want visibility for the associated products you’re going to create after creating your configurable product. Its important to know the difference! You want all Configurable products to appear in catalogs and in the search results in LiveShopBuy. You DO NOT want the products associated with the configurable product to appear. Your configurable products will be disabled if you make the associated products visible in catalog or search results. A few other fields to complete then move on to Free shipping.
This is something you might want to consider. Shoppers prefer purchasing products that offer free shipping so build it into your pricing wherever you can. Next please enter as many images as you can for your product. Products will not be approved unless the product has at least one image set as the products "Base" image in this field.
Different color shots and different angle shots are great so use them. Then the last thing you need to do is select the tax class. You cannot enter products until you complete your company shipping locations and the tax class, rates and rules for each state you ship from. When done, click “save.”
Then proceed to create the products that are associated with the configurable product you just created. If for example you created a configurable Shirt product, the associated SKUs could be a black shirt size small; a black shirt size medium and a black shirt size large. That would be three associated products of the one configurable product. Remember never to allow the associated products to appear in catalog or search. You need to hide those products. If you had 5 colors and 5 different sizes for that configurable shirt you would wind up with 25 associated SKUs. Each SKU would have its own inventory count associated with it but it should not display individually in our catalog or search.
